"How will it do that?", I hear you ask.

Well, there are several reasons.

Each phoneme (sound) is taught one by one in easy-to-understand English.

Most are easy (B, M, N, S etc.)

Some are a little harder. (the sounds for T-H, J, the I in 'fish' is not the same as the I in 'like'.

And so the scripts (how they are written) are not the same as regular alphabet letters.

Teachers may tell you to "go and practice your pronunciation of the words we learned today" and they think it's easy.

What's more, many teachers do not teach you the Phonetic Alphabet.

They say: "Repeat after me!"

I do teach it, because it's the key to getting perfect pronunciation.

FAQ's

Should I practice UK or US English? Is one better than the other?

It's not a case of one being 'better' than the other. They are just 'different'.

Whichever you choose, be consistent.

If you want to 'sound' American, or maybe you live in the US, or plan to move there, then choose US English.

It's the same for UK - or Australia, Canada, or New Zealand: learn to pronounce words with a UK accent.

BUT.... learning the IPA lets you pronounce any word regardless of accent. Whichever accent you choose, you'll be able to pronounce the word.

How long before my pronunciation is perfect?

Getting perfect pronunciation won't happen overnight.

It takes time and effort.

By practicing daily, your pronunciation will become better.
